You will know that ISO22301 is going to be the International Standard for Business Continuity. Many will choose to use it over BS25999, the British Standard generally used worldwide at present, and on which ISO22301 is based.
Work on ISO22301 was said to have briefly stalled whilst members decided whether it was appropriate to continue it while work is also underway for a standard on Organisational Resilience. Thankfully those in charge saw that Resilience is not the same as Business Continuity and the international standard was allowed to progress. ISO22301 was signed off in early April 2012.
An announcement is expected shortly on the launch date for the new standard, which is expected closer to the summer. In the meantime, they are offering a draft of ISO22301 for sale – click here to go to it!
Work continues on ISO22313, which is the part that contains the guidance document for Business Continuity. If you want to see the draft and comments of this section, then you can do so by clicking here.
And, of course, ContinuityInBusiness.com is an official affiliate of the BSI: as soon as it’s launched, you can purchase your copy from here and download it seconds later, if you like.
