In the past, the 2012 World Economic Forum may not have been a place you might expect cyber security to get a high profile. Today it is. In a “real-time cyber crisis” session government and business leaders were asked to consider the risks.
Hosted by Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC), many took part. The video below was used as a tool to gain engagement from participants.
PWC used a 4 minute film to demonstrate how a fictional group with malicious intent used an organisation’s own procedures to break into their network:
The session highlighted that Cyber Security isn’t just an IT issue – it’s a major issue for organisations across the globe that have regard for their ability to continue working. However, because many of us don’t fully understand the issues, it’s not a problem that is often rehearsed by organisations in terms of crisis management and business continuity.
Business continuity planners who don’t already engage regularly with their Information Security specialists would benefit from doing so. Prevention of cyber attack will be one of their concerns and we’re betting that most would welcome the opportunity to work with you to correct this!
You could even consider using the video – freely available on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boNF_Lyyd8c – to engage your audience if you find it useful.
