Planning for Severe Weather

Where do you get your advice for planning for severe weather?  A new, free guide is available and it’s a very well thought out, useful document.

Some of us live in areas where planning for unusual or severe weather patterns is the norm, others don’t. If you’ve not considered the issues of weather in detail before you might be wondering where to start.

Forfas, the Irish Government’s policy advisory board for enterprise, trade, science, technology and innovation, released a new guide in November 2011.  It’s online and the well laid out advice is relevant wherever you reside.

Business Continuity Planning in Severe Weather: Advice to Businesses on Preparing for Severe Weather is one of the most robust business continuity planning guides we’ve come across recently.  Sections include:

  • Impact of severe weather
  • How to map critical dependencies against potential impact
  • Planning activities
  • Business issues to address
  • Measures to underpin continuity
  • Responding to workplace risks in a weather emergency

It also contains an abundance of checklists – and we do like great checklists!

We think this is well worth downloading.

Thank you Ireland.
